HTC/Google Nexus One
I went and bought a Nexus One from google, it had free overnight shipping so it got here within a day.
I’m just going to say it: This is the best phone that exists.
Its much faster than my iPhone 3G and still faster than my friends 3GS, its screen (3.7″ AMOLED; 800×480) blows any other phone away and call quality on T-Mobile is amazing.
The android market has a huge amount of apps, most of which are on the iPhone as well, this is great because it closes the gap between the phones. If your friend has an app on their iPhone there’s a really good chance you can find it on the android market.
The touchscreen is the best by far on any android device, its very close to the iPhone’s but I still make some typing errors that I may not have made on the iPhone.
Its camera (5MP; LED Flash; Autofocus) is quite a bit better than other phones, it can also record video (720×480; 20FPS+) and you can instantly upload any videos or photos to youtube, picasa and facebook.
My favorite part of the android system is its integration with Google Voice, I route all my calls through gv and I use it for texting. I don’t need any texting plan which shaves $10-15 a month off my bill. The Google Voice app also has background notification, it only refreshes every 5 minutes which is a tad slow and I wish it could be set to 1.
I typically get through a 14 hour day with moderate use (Facebook, texting, some web browsing and a few calls) and still have 20-30% of the battery left over, this is with 3G and WiFi on, the screen at medium brightness and several apps refreshing in the background every few minutes.
